Cheap summer activities for the kids.

Cheap summer activities for the kids.

The computer got a snazzy upgrade from Marc and let me tell you, it’s fantastic. It runs great, it has a new screen & mouse. Plus more storage and other things I don’t really remember. Either way, I am now back and better than ever!

Can we talk about sunshine for a second?

Summer Activities

splash park with family free water park free fun splash park with the kids
Baby J and Little A and my sister all visited the splash park a couple times already this summer. Talk about sunburn, fun though!

I am LOVING baby J and little A having a place to play outside. We didn’t play outside as often as we would’ve liked in our old yard. So this year we’re outside like crazy. Pretty much from the time we get up till the time we go to sleep.

Splash Park

One of our favorite things to do in the Summer is grab my little sister and sometimes my brother (he’s getting too cool for us now) and head to the splash park down the street. The kids enjoy the different attractions getting soaking wet with cold water. It’s also free, so you really can’t go wrong there.

My tip for the day… and I encourage you to buy your kiddos it because it’s cheap and totally worth it.

Water Squirters!

I’ll have to get a picture of them and post it on the Instagram for you guys. The first two I got from Dollar Tree. Two sizes, one large one. The smaller one, J, was able to squeeze and he had so much fun being “rebellious” and squirting EVERYONE with water. It was awesome to see the kids and even us parents, having a good time, outside, with water on a hot day! WIN WIN you guys,

They have the big water squirters for $1 at Family Dollar as well if you guys have one of those

Water guns

I literally bought a 2 pack of water guns, for 1 buck at HyVee (It’s a grocery store) and Little A and I had the best time having a water gun fight. Between those and the water squirters it was a good time!

This summer has been a blast so far for us, what about you guys?

On to the challenge…

maybe my name should be squirreled Anxiety Mom Challenge.

Anxiety Mom Challenge perfect for blogs Instagram Pinterest any platform baby j little a

Saying YES right away to anything, can be hard. I feel like a lot of my challenges are based around saying YES. If your anything like me it can be hard to agree, without first thinking no, oh err maybe next time.

I was listening to brain candy podcast… sometimes I feel like they just speak truth to my thoughts.

Sarah Rice was explaining that our brains are basically hardwired to do what is comfortable.

Even if what is comfortable isn’t the best option. I think Anxiety can really enhance that. You get this comfort level and run to stay where you feel comforted the most.

SO

Today’s challenge is about saying YES, to your kiddo(s).

I have been trying to be more mindful lately, for example, A was getting out of school sun☀️ shining away. It was a beautiful day… finally after a long winter.

She so excitedly… asked if we could go to the playground to play. Hesitantly, I agreed.

Hesitant yes

We spent roughly 20 minutes there and let me just say there were More pros then cons!

Pros

•Both children were happy and more worn out then before.

• Little A could not stop thanking me for taking her and saying yes to going in the first place. (ugh am I that bad.)

• We almost completely beat the going home “traffic“. Really, it isn’t bad but, very little cars going home 👍🏻

Con

I let my anxiety run my life sometimes and said no

So say I CHALLENGE you to say YES to one thing, just 1. That you normally might not do, or would put off saying yes.

Even if it’s a short activity, just say YES and love the gratitude you feel back from it. Anxiety is hard… we can challenge ourselves as parents together!

Did you challenge yourself?

How many of y’all were able to complete challenge one? Getting out of the house!

Now it’s time for,

Challenge Number TWO!!

This is all about getting out there in the blog/social media world 🌍‼️

One important lesson I’ve learned so far with my blog is, that it’s super important to get out there and “promote” if you will… your posts.

It’s good to connect with other bloggers.

Just like a group of friends at home. Like-minded people typically stick together and can thrive with one another.

It helps to have support with a new blog. Commenting on each other’s posts, following each other, learning and taking tips from one another.

So go follow 5 new friends!!

Super simple and can make a big difference!

Once you start following, you might find it hard to stop… extra points for a comment 😉

So go on!

Follow 5 new bloggers

If you’re not doing this challenge with your blog, you can get on Instagram and follow new friends/profiles close to what your niche is. Like 5 Facebook pages , or 5 new Pinterest boards.

Whatever it is, it’s challenge number two time.

Comment one person you followed and I will follow both of you!

Finding your Happiness Friday with ANXIETY MOM Challenge

Finding your Happiness Friday with ANXIETY MOM Challenge

Really it’s Saturday I know guys, I fell asleep before I could post this. I just couldn’t change it anymore, I’m sorry #momfail

Is this you right now…

•You haven’t left the house in a couple of days. Recreationally anyway, “kids.”🤣

•You’ve forced yourself to do the necessities. My thoughts? I don’t think J & A care much about what momma looks like…so, why should I?

•You’re certain it’ll be a whole ‘nother season, before you make it out with actual adults. those exist??!

IF this sounds like you, then I have the CHALLENGE for you.

Anxiety Mom Challenge

Pin this for later! Stay tuned for more challenges.

Challenge One- Leave the house!

“Bonus points if it’s free or with another Parent.”

We’ve moved, which has forced me to really get out there. On top of, picking A up from her first year of school, standing in line with other parents, and little A making friends.

My anxiety ridden, extroverted, but introverted self, sort-of freaked out!!!

Little A and I were invited to go to the Public library one day after school. The sweetest little one invited her, and of course we couldn’t say no. Baby J, A, and I headed there and truthfully… it was awesome!

They had a pretend grocery store set-up, they had LOTS of other activities, and they even had a sectioned off area for just baby J’s age.

ALL FOR FREE.

So I encourage you to try to get out and do something new with your family. My example shows, it doesn’t have to cost much to enjoy yourself.

Time to

G E T O U T T H E R E

mommas!

What are we gonna do?
GET OUT OF THE HOUSE AND DO SOMETHING
When are we gonna do it?

NOW… or sometime SOON!

Sleep Training Method

Sleep Training Method

I don’t know what y’all believe in

I personally just believe in life

Last night at around 11 J woke up crying, I was having such a hard time getting him settled.

I’m trying not to breastfeed as often, as we are “weaning” breastfeeding. {I put quotes because I don’t think it’s happening any time soon, slow weaning here!}

I didn’t want to put him in to bed as this momma wants more of her nights back.

So here I am… a little quick sanned.

At almost 13 months, J has NEVER slept through the night.

Wow that hurt a little to type, that after all my hard- work, at trying to do right at every little thing.I have failed him at one really big thing.

Falling asleep on his own

11:11 I asked for help at wits end, I thanked the angels for their guidance until this far and I begged that my focus be put on J and his sleeping habits.

The rest of the night wasn’t any better but, this morning I found AMotherFarFromHome.com

I found her post about the tried and true sleeping method.

It felt like something shifted, He took one nap around 2 hours or so.

It was fantastic! It felt like I was being encouraged to put my focus on this.

Day 2, J needed a morning nap, he just couldn’t make it any longer let alone an hour or more like it would need to be. He only napped for 45 minutes in the morning and around an hour or so in the afternoon.

Update on night 2, J has been asleep for THREE hours on his own. Can we say win?? I am feeling confident in this you guys.

What are your sleeping tips for me?

Any of y’all have a kiddo like baby J? If so, I am sure you can relate!

Drop Dead Dice game review!

Drop Dead Dice game review!

Do you ever get sucked into the Pinterest portal.

You know, your kids are bored.

The last holiday or birthday was more then three days ago.

So you’re looking for something to do with the kids. You come across some ideas… but, you don’t have the right supplies. Or the prep time is far to long. Whatever the case, if that’s you…

I have something!

Unless you don’t have 5 dice… then I’m sorry… I’ve failed you 😐

I wasn’t even looking for something to do, it just popped up on my feed. Like it wanted us to play…

It’s called “drop dead dice game”!! Pause, it’s kid friendly, don’t worry! It was a learning game AND it was super fun! Which in my book… is kinda like winning the lottery.

It can be played with 5 or 10 dice 🎲 for 2 players, if you use 5 you’ll have to share. You could play with more but I would stick to 5 dice.

• You’ll need something to keep score on and write with.

That’s it!!! Seriously I can’t make this up.

You play until all of your dice are gone, you start with five dice,

•Roll 1- if you

A. Roll a 5 or 2 take those out and roll again. Don’t add any numbers yet.

B. If there are NO 5 or 2’s you add up all the numbers on the dice. Roll again with ALL dice.

Which is PERFECT for our little beginner math kiddos. A counted the dots and told me what she had.

You get so excited when you’re playing this sometimes you forget the rules 😂

Pin this so you’ll have it for later!

If you took out your 5’s and 2’s and on your next turn you had no 5’s or 2’s you then can add up all your dice and roll them all again.

You continue till the dice are gone.

A and I chose to do each game as it’s own, highest score winner.

For score keeping, we used a laminated sheet of paper that has lines for practicing writing, it wipes off easy which is perfect.

Ideally, you’d never get a 5 or 2 and could stack your points. You roll again after numbers are added… roll a 5 or 2 take them out and roll again.

Hopefully this pattern makes sense! I did not make up this game nor do I own any rights to it.

Original post can be found here

from https://www.whatdowedoallday.com/

A and I played for almost all of J’s nap-time {over an hour} before she mentioned she was bored.

Total win!! Parent Points 4/5

I hope everyone is having a great New Year so far!!
