On to the challenge…

maybe my name should be squirreled Anxiety Mom Challenge.

Saying YES right away to anything, can be hard. I feel like a lot of my challenges are based around saying YES. If your anything like me it can be hard to agree, without first thinking no, oh err maybe next time.

I was listening to brain candy podcast… sometimes I feel like they just speak truth to my thoughts.

Sarah Rice was explaining that our brains are basically hardwired to do what is comfortable.

Even if what is comfortable isn’t the best option. I think Anxiety can really enhance that. You get this comfort level and run to stay where you feel comforted the most.

Today’s challenge is about saying YES, to your kiddo(s).

I have been trying to be more mindful lately, for example, A was getting out of school sun☀️ shining away. It was a beautiful day… finally after a long winter.

She so excitedly… asked if we could go to the playground to play. Hesitantly, I agreed.

Hesitant yes

We spent roughly 20 minutes there and let me just say there were More pros then cons!

•Both children were happy and more worn out then before.

• Little A could not stop thanking me for taking her and saying yes to going in the first place. (ugh am I that bad.)

• We almost completely beat the going home “traffic“. Really, it isn’t bad but, very little cars going home 👍🏻

I let my anxiety run my life sometimes and said no

So say I CHALLENGE you to say YES to one thing, just 1. That you normally might not do, or would put off saying yes.

Even if it’s a short activity, just say YES and love the gratitude you feel back from it. Anxiety is hard… we can challenge ourselves as parents together!

Did you challenge yourself?

How many of y’all were able to complete challenge one? Getting out of the house!

Now it’s time for,

Challenge Number TWO!!

This is all about getting out there in the blog/social media world 🌍‼️

One important lesson I’ve learned so far with my blog is, that it’s super important to get out there and “promote” if you will… your posts.

It’s good to connect with other bloggers.

Just like a group of friends at home. Like-minded people typically stick together and can thrive with one another.

It helps to have support with a new blog. Commenting on each other’s posts, following each other, learning and taking tips from one another.

So go follow 5 new friends!!

Super simple and can make a big difference!

Once you start following, you might find it hard to stop… extra points for a comment 😉

So go on!

Follow 5 new bloggers

If you’re not doing this challenge with your blog, you can get on Instagram and follow new friends/profiles close to what your niche is. Like 5 Facebook pages , or 5 new Pinterest boards.

Whatever it is, it’s challenge number two time.

Comment one person you followed and I will follow both of you!

Baby J’s Favorite Books!

Baby J’s Favorite Books!

During the 30 day blog challenge, I felt inspired to share more of baby J’s favorites.

I earn a small commission for purchases made though all amazon links on this post. Click on the photo for product details!

J’s Favorite Books

So Big!

So Big! Perfect childrens book for ages 6 months - 12 months (more or less really) baby J has been "reading" this since 4 months. It was even passed down from Little A!
Baby J has been looking at So Big! since he was four months old. He loves the ‘surprise’ pop- up of Elmo at the end. It has really helped with his first set of words. Like Ma-Ma and Da-Da. He loves to throw his hands up for “So Big“. I recommend this one, by far one of my favorites!
Parent Points score- 5/5!!

Baby Einstein Neptune’s Friends Book, Box and Plush.

Neptune's Friends book, Box and Plush. A great book for a year and beyond. Interactive plush and book with sounds included.
J got this for Christmas, Neptune is the name of this cute little guy. The book that comes along with it, has a sound for each friend you meet along the way. It’s very “baby Einstein” Esque. It has just a few pages which can be on either end of the pro’s and con’s. Baby J does interact when I am reading this to him. Thumbs UP,
Parent Points score- 4/5

Find the Teddy

Find the teddy, an affordable "peek a boo" type book. You find teddy in different places, the end is a goodnight sequence. Perfect for a bedtime story!
Find the Teddy is also a duplicate from the 30 day blog challenge. However, Baby J didn’t like it near as much then as he does now at a year + old. He is beginning to point to the teddy in the book . Which is so exciting, I was wondering how long this book would stay! It ends with goodnight which is perfect for our long book reading bedtime routine.
Parent Points score 4/5 (I recommend ages 7 months and up)
“$ Looks like it’s a GREAT price right now!!”

Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see? A CLASSIC children's story. Very easy to catch on to the pattern and really encourages kids to start reading at even young ages.
This was Little A’s favorite when she was younger. It’s a super easy book to catch on to what is coming next. Now baby J is learning to appreciate it too! It works perfect for little ones like J or even those beginning to read like A. When she[A] first started learning, the images and the repetitiveness of this book really did wonders. On the same token if you are annoyed by the same song and dance just different music, this might be one for kids room only. CLASSIC
Parent Points Score 4/5

I really enjoy reading with the kids. We spent a lot of Winter Break reading books that the kiddos got for Christmas. Little A has just gotten into reading on her own, sometimes with a little help from me. I am waiting to post her list until it’s more finalized, have you tried getting a “final answer” from a six year old? Yeah it’s not easy guys!

What books are your little ones into? I would love to hear more recommendations! Do you like the Parent Points score? Let me know in the comments.

Happy New Year everyone!

Finding your Happiness Friday with a 31 DAY BLOG CHALLENGE Day ONE

Finding your Happiness Friday with a 31 DAY BLOG CHALLENGE Day ONE

Finding your Happiness with a 31 DAY BLOG CHALLENGE OH YEAH

I was browsing through Pinterest trying to spark some creativity as my brain is not very awake today. I can’t believe it is Friday! So, I ended up stumbling upon a challenge. I would’ve never really thought to do a blog challenge, BUT– here is where I found the pin! It’s called a 31 Day Blog Challenge and I’m excited to try something new!

Finding your Happiness Friday!

Honest I don’t have a clue what “week” it is… I hope it’s alright that I am discontinuing that part. Finding your Happiness Friday however is still in full form. My happiness today is the 31 Day Blog Challenge. Super excited to start this, Week One is where you simply give an introduction.

My name is Corrie, I am momma to two, baby J and little A. They’ve inspired me to find my true self, & along this ‘self awakening’ of sorts I have found joy in this blog!

Sharing motherhood with other moms from all over, feeling like I have a place where I can connect and be able to share things I’ve learned along the way.

Motherhood can be lonely and with anxiety like I have, it becomes even more so. I hope that I can take away some of the worry from other momma’s, by connecting and listening! I can be an ear for any mom that just needs a break today.

If this sounds like it suits you, whether you’re a parent or not, please give me a follow! Read my posts and comment I enjoy feedback!

What are your holiday traditions?

What are your holiday traditions?

Thursday’s are becoming more like Friday’s…

I am just putting that out there now! I am getting Little A on a Thursday this week as she is out of school tomorrow. I have no idea why they are out however I am pretty excited about it because we can now go to this Winter thing I wanted to take her to!

It’s going to be full of real reindeer, Santa, and a light ceremony all FOR FREE. Which in my opinion makes the event even better! So we’re headed to that tonight.

I will take photos and share them with you guys later. Which brings me to my topic… finally- yes I am getting there.

What are your family holiday traditions?

I LOVE this time of year so much. It’s so happy and joyous, about the only buzz kill is the Midwest is getting freeezing cold.

I love to take the kids to see Santa! Before J was born I would take A and my littlest sister and brother. We usually go to Bass Pro Shop, it’s fun to look around at things and free photos!

I know I have a pattern, I just love a good deal ya’ll. I love Decorating the tree after Thanksgiving with the family and Christmas music.

What do you guys love most about the holidays?

We are in between places this year, so I will be totally out of my element with unplanned holidays and not decorating the house and tree. It will just make next year that much more sweet.

Leave some joy in the comments if you’d like! Happy almost Friday 🙂 If you haven’t checked out last weeks Finding your Happiness Friday you should totally do so!
